ESCVS YOUNG CARDIAC SURGEON PRIZE GUIDELINES

1. Applicants must be under 36 years of age. If they are not members, they will have to be presented by a member of the ESCVS. The applicant should send per e-mail to the General Secretariat, together with the abstract, a copy of an official document attesting his/her age and provide a letter of introduction of the sponsoring member if no co-author is a member.

2. The subject must be original research / clinical work, principally in the field of Cardiac Surgery, but it may also deal with Cardiology or Thoracic Surgery. It must be the first time the work is presented or published in any national/international meeting or journa

3. The work must be original and the applicant should be the first and presenting author. It must be written and presented in English.

4. Authors competing for either Award MUST provide the General Secretariat (escvs.secretariat@gmail.com) an electronic copy of the full manuscript of their abstract (via email) at least one month prior to the beginning of the Congress. Moreover, the recipient of each award MUST submit the full manuscript for publication in the The Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery. 5. The Selection Committee for each prize, elected by the Executive Committee of the ESCVS, always includes the President or one of the Vice-Presidents and the Secretary General or Assistant Secretary of the ESCVS.

6. The Committee will nominate the winner of the prize after reading the abstract and hearing the presentation of the paper during the special session. The decision of the Committee will then be made public and the presentation of the winner will take place.

7. The applicants selected for participation in the competition will have to present personally their own paper during the special Competition Session.

8. Non-adherence to any of the above-mentioned conditions will exclude the applicant from the competition.

9. This prize award consists in a grant of Eur 1,000.00 and a special diploma. Presentation of the prize winner will take place at the Gala Dinner where the winner will be invited.

3. The work must be original and the applicant should be the principal author. It must be written and presented in English.

Authors competing for either Award MUST provide the General Secretariat (escvs.secretariat@gmail.com) an electronic copy of the full manuscript of their abstract (via email) at least one month prior to the beginning of the Congress. Moreover, the recipient of each award MUST submit the full manuscript for publication in the The Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery.
