Ladies and Gentlemen,
Dear Colleagues,
After last year’s success of the 60th Jubilee ESCVS Congress in Moscow, it is my great pleasure to invite you on behalf of the Hosts, the Executive Board and the ESCVS Scientific Board to participate in the 61st Congress of the European Society for Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery, which will take place on 25th-28th April, 2012 in the magnificent coastal city of Dubrovnik in Croatia. This still relatively undiscovered pearl of the Adriatic Sea allures with its rich culture, remarkable history and excellent leisure facilities.
The choice of Dubrovnik as the congress venue is an important and needed sign that, in contemporary Europe, where peace and democracy are key values, doctors and scientists dealing with cardiovascular diseases can work together to the benefit of the ill and of European cardiovascular medicine, acting beyond the still existing political divisions and ethnic conflicts. This ESCVS congress is yet another symbol of peaceful scientific cooperation, with the patients in mind, that spreads from Dubrovnik over the Balkans and entire Europe.
The essence of the 61st ESCVS congress is to exchange clinical, scientific and organisational expertise and to share knowledge and experience in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Today’s patients are older, more and more difficult, with many concomitant diseases. Contemporary vascular, cardiac and emergency surgery undertakes new research and clinical challenges; the development of minimally invasive surgical techniques and modern technologies facilitates a reduction in the number and type of life-threatening complications, thereby improving treatment results and the quality of life.
Multi-specialist collaboration within the CARDIO-VASCULAR TEAM is one of the main topics and aims of the Congress. The joint scientific and training sessions, debates and workshops will gather not only cardiac and vascular surgeons, but also cardiologists, angiologists, anaesthetists, perfusionists and nurses. The events organized by the ESCVS, together with European and international societies, such as the ISMIC, EACTS, ISHLT, ESC and the Texas Heart Institute are a guarantee of cutting-edge educational and scientific level that will satisfy both specialists and residents.
Dear Colleagues,
We cordially invite you to submit abstracts (submission deadline is January 31, 2012) and participate actively in this unmissable scientific event. Young cardiac and vascular surgeons can present their scientific achievements at the annual ESCVS contest for the best scientific work in the Young Cardiac/Vascular Surgeon category.
We also encourage you to benefit from early registration, available till February 15th.
We are looking forward to seeing you at the 61st ESCVS Congress.
Dubrovnik, with its unique atmosphere, awaits you!

Dear Colleagues,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to join us at the 61st International Congress of the European Society for Cardiovascular and Endovascular Surgery (ESCVS) to be held in Dubrovnik, Croatia from the 25th to the 28th April, 2012.
This is a unique opportunity to attend an ESCVS Congress which for the first time will be organised in this part of Europe. It is also an opportunity to celebrate the restoration of peace in the region following the troubles in the last decade of the 20th century. The European Congress of the ESCVS will also provide an excellent chance to reunite the medical community in the region on scientific and medico-technological grounds.
In the long history of the ESCVS this is the first time we are preparing the International Congress of the ESCVS as an integral event of cardiac, vascular, endovascular and cardiological specialists, along with the gathering of extracorporeal perfusionists. It is hence a perfect opportunity to bring together in one place and at the same time all our specialists.
The ESCVS 61st Congress is to be held in Dubrovnik, the Pearl of the Adriatic and one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean. It is a place of splendid history, art and scientific achievements including medical science. But it is also a modern city that caters for business and leisure requirements. Many say that visiting Dubrovnik is something contemporary traveler, and members of medical profession fall in that category, must not miss.
With assistance and support from the region, the ESCVS local organisers in Croatia are genuinely ready to organise a modern and technologically advanced gathering. We and Dubrovnik wholeheartedly await your arrival and participation at the Congress.
Yours cordially,
